Didn't buy a car but the owner seemed a really nice guy - honest and not pushy at all. If the car I was looking at was right I would of happily bought it.

AVOID THESE COWBOYS LIKE THE PLAGUE!! We bought a car from Mark in May, and like everyone else we thought he was a nice, genuine guy. But we had problems from the very first day, the car broke down as soon as we paid and drove it out of the garage. We had it in to his so-called mechanics at least six times in three months and each time were told the problems were fixed, but they kept coming back. Mark avoided all reasonable attempts to replace the car or give us our money back, Kim was just as bad and hugely disrespectful and insulting when we spoke to her. An independent assessment of the car showed that air and oil pipes were held on with duct tape, and that it would cost £8k to make the car safe, over double what we paid for it. Luckily we paid on a credit card so have had the support from them to reclaim out money, please DO NOT purchase a vehicle from Mark Barclay and Kim Dixon, they are complete con artists Updated following response from owner - following and independent assessment it was found that the car had a massive oil leak when we bought it. It was found that a section of the air filter was fixed with gaffer tape. It was found that the air pump pipe was broken and fixed with cable ties. It was found that the head lamps were poorly modified and loose, with wiring hanging all over. This is all independent from both our assessors and a certified garage. In addition to that, I went in twice for an issue with the engine management light which was cleared off both times without being investigated. Justin, Mark’s mechanic, told me that it could be a problem with the air flow, and to go back if it persisted - obviously it was due to the poor repairs but this wasn’t looked into properly. I also went in three times for issues with the stability control and the car going into limp mode just to be told ‘that’s what they do’. Mark also ‘sorted’ a problem with the gearbox, but when we got the car back it was grinding going into second. Mark’s advice was that it would ‘bed in’ after 100 miles, but was still doing it after 500. We’re not stupid, we’re fully aware of the risks of buying an older car. The issue it that we were knowingly sold a poor car for not a small amount of money, were constantly fobbed off or lied to, and were made promises that never materialised. We would have happily received a replacement car from Mark and he agreed to this, then avoided us for months when we chased leaving us with no option but to recover our money formally. This week we have found out that our case has been successful, so please consider this as an honest review before buying from Mark and Kim. Lastly we never once asked for a full refund, we completely accepted that there would be depreciation. We first asked to return the car three months after buying it, but Mark refused and said that there was no way that he could give us anything back - it was only after we spoke to the CAB and reminded Mark of his legal obligations that he changes his tune and agreed to the replacement that never materialised
